Your app can take real payments now
If you’ve ever tried to sell something through an app you built — a course, your training plans, premium content — you know the ugly secret: the selling was never the hard part. Knowing who actually paid was.
Until now, that meant payment links, screenshots of transfers, and a list of people to approve by hand, on trust. One whacka builder put it perfectly: “I approve based on what?”
That era is over. Apps built with whacka can now take real payments. Buyers pay through PayPal, the money goes directly into your own PayPal account, and whacka takes no fee on your sales.
Here’s what that looks like in practice:
- Connect once. Tell whacka what you want to charge for, and it hands you a connect card right in the chat. Link your own PayPal — it takes a couple of minutes, and whacka never sees or holds your money.
- Set your price. “$5 to unlock all my workout plans.” “$19 for the full course.” Your app gets a real checkout of its own, not a link to somewhere else.
- The unlock is automatic. Buyers sign in to your app, pay on PayPal’s official page, and the moment the payment is confirmed, your app unlocks what they bought. No screenshots. No approving by hand. And if you ever refund someone from your PayPal, the unlock is taken back automatically too.
What can you sell this way? Anything your app gates: course lessons, workout and meal plans, study guides, digital downloads, premium features, a full library behind a one-time unlock. If your buyers are on their phones, your app is now your storefront.
We’ll be honest about the edges, as always. This first release covered one-time purchases through PayPal — and since then, connecting your own Stripe has landed too, including auto-renewing subscriptions. Your provider has to support receiving money in your country — if none does yet, simple tip jars and “pay me” links still work like they always have.
Getting started takes one sentence. Open your app — or start a new one — and say what you want to sell: “People pay $7 once to unlock the full plan library.” whacka builds the paywall, hands you the connect card, and from then on your app does the part you never wanted to do: knowing, for certain, who paid.
