Your app can live on your own domain now
When you share an app you built, the first thing people see isn’t your design or your clever feature. It’s the address. And for a long time that address told everyone the same thing: this was made on a platform. yourname.whacka.app is a real, working web address — but it isn’t quite yours.
For a hobby or a quick experiment, that’s perfectly fine. For a business, it isn’t. A café, a boutique, a tutor, a clinic — the web address is the brand. It goes on the business card, the shopfront, the receipt, the bio link. It’s the thing you ask customers to trust.
So here’s what’s new: you can now buy a real domain right inside whacka, and your app goes live on it. Search for the name you want, buy it in a couple of taps, and minutes later your app opens at yourbrand.com — with a padlock, on a proper secure address that’s registered in your name.
How buying a custom domain works
There’s no DNS to configure, no SSL certificate to install, no second account to set up somewhere else. That whole technical middle — the part that usually sends people off to hire a developer — is handled for you.
- Search a name. Open your app’s Publish settings, type the name you have in mind, and see what’s available across .com, .app, .io, .co and more — with the price shown right there.
- Buy it in a tap. You pay one yearly price through whacka, and the renewal price is shown up front — no teaser rate that spikes next year. whacka registers the domain for you, in your name.
- It configures itself. DNS, secure HTTPS, the connection to your app — all set up automatically. There’s no registrar control panel for you to wrestle with, because you never have to touch one.
- Live in minutes. Your app starts serving on the new address, padlock and all. Share that link instead — it works everywhere your old one did.
Why your own domain is worth it
A custom domain is a small thing that quietly changes how your app is received:
- It’s memorable. mycafe.com is easier to say, type and remember than a longer platform address — and far easier to put on a sign, a flyer, or a card.
- It earns trust. People are more comfortable signing in, booking, and paying on a business’s own domain. It reads as established, not improvised.
- It’s fully yours. No platform name sitting in your address. To anyone who visits, the app is simply yours — which is exactly how it should feel.
- It travels with you. The domain is registered in your name. It’s yours to keep and yours to move — you’re never locked in.
Your address, side by side
| Free whacka.app address | Your own domain | |
|---|---|---|
| Looks like | yourname.whacka.app | yourbrand.com |
| Setup | Instant, free | A name search + one yearly price |
| Secure HTTPS | Yes | Yes — set up for you |
| Carries your brand | Shared platform name | Just your name |
| Registered to you | — | Yes — yours to keep & transfer |
You don’t have to choose forever. Every app keeps its free whacka.app address, and you can add your own domain whenever the moment is right — when the side project becomes a business, when you print the first batch of cards, when you want customers to remember exactly where to find you.
The honest details
A few things we’d rather you know up front, as always:
- It’s on Pro and Ultra. Buying and using a custom domain is part of the paid plans. On the free plan, your app lives at its whacka.app address — which keeps working, always.
- Domains renew every year. You’re buying a real domain from a real registrar, so it’s an annual cost — and once a domain is registered it’s non-refundable, the way domains work everywhere. The renewal price is always shown before you buy, never hidden.
- If your plan lapses, you don’t lose the domain. Your app simply falls back to its free whacka.app address so it keeps working — and the domain stays registered in your name, to renew or move whenever you like.
Questions people ask
Can I really buy a domain through whacka?
Yes. You search and buy it without leaving your project — no separate registrar account, no copying settings between two services. whacka registers it for you and connects it to your app automatically.
Do I need to know anything about DNS or hosting?
No. The reason custom domains used to mean “hire someone” was all the configuration in the middle — DNS records, SSL certificates, pointing one service at another. whacka does all of it. You pick a name; it handles the rest.
Is the domain actually mine?
It is. The domain is registered in your name, not whacka’s. You can keep it, renew it, or transfer it to another provider whenever you want. You’re not renting it from us — you own it.
What happens to the link I already shared?
Your free whacka.app link keeps working. When your custom domain goes live, your app serves on the new address, and you can start sharing it. Sign-ins, payments and everything else keep working on the new domain automatically.
Your idea deserves an address as real as it is. Open your app, go to Publish, and search for the name you’ve had in mind. If it’s free, it can be yours in minutes.
